Files on a computer
What CodeRail puts on each computer, all inside your home folder.
| Path | What |
|---|---|
~/.coderail/bin/coderail | The bridge. |
~/.coderail/config.json | The link: your site, the computer's ID and name, and its token. Readable only by you; never reachable through CodeRail's Files. |
~/.coderail/state.json | Whether the bridge is connected right now (the Mac app reads it). |
~/.coderail/bridge.log | The bridge's log (coderail logs). |
~/.coderail/adapters/ | The Claude Code and Codex adapters, unpacked from the bridge on first run. |
The background service:
| macOS | Linux |
|---|---|
~/Library/LaunchAgents/codes.coderail.bridge.plist | ~/.config/systemd/user/coderail.service |
The Mac app itself is /Applications/CodeRail.app.
CodeRail doesn't change the agents' own files (~/.claude, ~/.codex): their settings, permissions and history stay as they are.
To remove everything: coderail unlink, then delete ~/.coderail (and the Mac app, if you have it).
